jewellery Verification

Jewellery vendors showing pieces of jewellery in a case.

For initial jewellery, the UKAPP requires jewellery to be made from implant grade Titanium (ASTM F136 or ASTM F1295) or implant grade steel (ASTM F138) with the valid mill certificates to prove that it meets requirements. Solid 18 karat and 14 karat gold is also accepted, as is niobium and glass.

The UKAPP maintains a list of jewellery manufacturers who produce implant grade titanium whose titanium standards meet our requirements.

This will be an ever-changing list as new manufacturers appear on the market or change their business model. This is by no means the exhaustive list of brands that a UKApp member is allowed to use, but it goes some way to help potential members to know where to buy and for members of the public to check whether the jewellery that they are purchasing from a studio is legitimate.

If you use a supplier who isn’t listed here and you would like us to confirm whether their mill certificates meet our standards, simply reach out to: health@safepiercing.co.uk.

Please note that gold and niobium manufacturers are not listed here because gold and niobium do not require mill certificates. in the future, there may be a definitive gold standard, but until then, 18 and 14 karat gold (not plated) with a good surface polish are likely to meet standards. if you have a question about a jewellery brand, please reach out!
